{"id":1745,"date":"2016-06-07T14:15:01","date_gmt":"2016-06-07T14:15:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.bevologyinc.com\/blog\/?p=1745"},"modified":"2016-06-07T14:15:01","modified_gmt":"2016-06-07T14:15:01","slug":"seven-tips-for-great-agency-client-relationships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/bevologyinc.com\/blog\/2016\/06\/07\/seven-tips-for-great-agency-client-relationships\/","title":{"rendered":"Seven Tips for Great Agency Client Relationships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When I first moved from the agency side to brand management, I held an onboarding meeting with my new advertising agency.\u00a0 The \u201cmanifesto\u201d I shared with them is still a philosophy I follow in agency and client relationships today:\u00a0 Astonish each other with performance, and reward each other with growth.<\/p>\n<h2>Agency and Client Relationships \u2014 Goals for Both<\/h2>\n<p>What the client should expect from the agency:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Leadership: \u00a0Understand the end user, the client and all points in between as though you were pitching the business every day.\u00a0 Because you are.<\/li>\n<li>Listen: \u00a0We were given one mouth and two ears for a reason.\u00a0 No matter how many awards you\u2019ve won, honesty and humility will get you a lot further than hubris.<\/li>\n<li>Take the lead technologically: Adapt the creative process to capitalize on new media and marketing tools.<\/li>\n<li>Commitment: \u00a0Wash windows willingly.<\/li>\n<li>Quality: \u00a0Good enough isn\u2019t.\u00a0 Materials should be as polished and error-free as if they were a formal presentation to pitch the business.\u00a0 They are.<\/li>\n<li>Timeliness: \u00a0Fifteen minutes early is on time. \u00a0On time is late.\u00a0 Late is unacceptable.<\/li>\n<li>Fiscal responsibility: \u00a0Treat the client\u2019s money as if it were the agency\u2019s\u2026it is.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>What the agency should expect from the client:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>To appreciate, protect, and run great advertising and communications, even\u2015especially\u2015if it makes you a little nervous.<\/li>\n<li>A sense of respect and trust supported by an understanding of the agency business and how its people are motivated.<\/li>\n<li>Clear, consistent, and constructive direction.<\/li>\n<li>Be open minded, decisive, and willing to take risks.<\/li>\n<li>Question data.
